I don't know when or how it donned on me that pet portraits were my favorite things to draw, but I've been enjoying drawing cats, dogs and even birds for years now. My beloved Basil, my large Maine Coon, pictured left, inspired me to draw many portraits of him, giving me a lot of practice with creating feline likenesses. Sadlly, in May of 2009, I had to let Basil go. He had been faithful to me for many years and his job on Earth was done. Luckily for me, I was able to havea drawn so many portraits and he'll live on forever in our memories. |

My wife and I have four other cats: Sheva, Jeeter, Marmalade and Widget. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to draw them nearly as much as I did Basil. Add to that two cockatiels, Gabby and Buzzy and we've got one pet menagerie! Pets truly raise the quality of our lives. They show us to love unconditionally, they teach us loyalty and they provide us with entertainment when life has its slower moments. Together with out four cats, two birds and our new daughter, my wife and I live in Hooksett, NH. By trade, I am a graphic designer. I attended the University of Hartford and achieved a Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree in Printmaking. Most of the drawings I do are in colored pencil. I do use all media, however due to time constraints and work habits, I prefer colored pencil.
